For pre-school and grades 1–4, children about 4 to 10
Every child draws their own family tree.
On a tablet, a laptop or a phone, each child adds the people in their family and draws a picture for every one of them. You print the trees, or send each one home with a link.
Free for 30 days from the day you make your first class: 1 class, up to 10 children. No card needed.
See it in four minutes
Read what the film says
The teacher creates a class in a few seconds. Children are added by first name. No e-mail addresses, no accounts for children. Each tablet joins the class once, with the code on the teacher’s screen. The code changes every minute: only tablets in the classroom get in. From then on the tablet stays in the class. Each child simply taps their own name. The tree starts with the child’s own card. One big button to add others. Who is in my family? Children choose from pictures. Then they draw them – in their own colours, with stickers. Every card can be a different fruit. Grandparents, brothers and sisters, pets: every family, whatever its shape. Children choose the tree and the sky. Cards can be moved around. The broom puts them back. From November, new trees start as Christmas trees: ornaments, twinkling lights and falling snow. It works on phones too. One finger moves an ornament around the tree. One click: every tree on one A4 page, ready to print or to save as a PDF. A private link for each family – send it home, for example through the school’s messaging app. Tablets may take photos – the teacher can switch this off. If you wish, the trees are deleted automatically at the end of the school year. At home, the tree can be printed. Parents can keep the tree for free in a SukuTree account.
How it works
Three steps, and nothing to install: SukuTree Kids runs in the browser of a tablet, a phone or a computer.
You make the class
Name the class and add the children by first name: up to 40 in a class, 10 in the free trial. Children have no accounts and no email addresses.
Class devices join once
Show the class code on your screen. Each device scans it, or types it, once and then stays in the class. The code changes every minute, so only a device in the room can join.
Children build their tree
Each child taps their own picture, adds Mum, Grandpa, a sister or the cat, and draws a picture on every card. Up to 60 cards in a tree.
Then
- Print a child's tree on one A4 page, or save it as a PDF.
- Print the whole class as one booklet: every child's tree in one PDF.
- Show the trees one after another on the classroom screen, for example at a parents' evening.
- Send each tree home with its own private link. Parents can keep it in a free SukuTree account.
- From November, new trees start as a Christmas tree. Children can switch between the two at any time.
Every family fits
A family-tree lesson has to work for every child in the class, whatever their family looks like.
Any shape of family
One parent or two, stepparents, grandparents who bring the child up. The tree starts with the child's own card.
Someone else
Anyone who matters gets a card, with the word the child chooses: an aunt, a godmother, a friend, a foster parent.
Pets too
The dog, the cat and the rabbit get their own cards.
A drawing instead of a photo
Every card can hold a drawing, so no child has to show a photo of their family. You can switch the camera off for the class.
Where it fits in teaching
A ready activity for topics that most primary curricula cover: family, home and the people who care for us.
- Social and environmental studies, grades 1–2
- The child's family, the generations, the people who care for them, and the words for each relative.
- Pre-school
- The child's own family and the community around them.
- Visual arts and mother tongue
- A drawing on every card, and the child tells who is on each one.
- Every family in its own words
- Any shape of family fits, and each child names their people the way their family does.
- Your country's curriculum
- The Finnish, Swedish, Bulgarian, French and Estonian versions of this page name the subjects in those countries' curricula.
Privacy and safety
What SukuTree Kids keeps, and what it does not.
- Children are added by first name only. They have no accounts, passwords or email addresses.
- A tree holds names, family words and the pictures the children draw or photograph. No dates of birth, addresses or other details.
- The class devices show only the children's pictures and trees. Your own pages stay on your own computer.
- You decide in each class whether the class devices may take photos. With the camera off, children only draw.
- No ads, and no AI: nothing the children make is sent to an AI service.
- Everything is kept on our own server in a data centre in Helsinki, Finland.
- If you choose, the trees are deleted automatically at the end of the school year. Deleting a child deletes their tree and pictures.
- A link for home shows one tree and nothing else, and you can remove it at any time.
The school decides about the children's data, and we handle it on the school's behalf. A data processing agreement is available on request: contact@aj-group.net.

Every licence continues year after year until you cancel it, so your classes never stop by surprise. A month before each renewal we email you. Card payments renew automatically; with an invoice you get a new invoice. You can stop it any time before it renews: for a card payment with "Stop renewing" in SukuTree Kids, for an invoice by answering the reminder email.
To pay by invoice, order with the form below. As soon as we have the order, we email the school its licence code: each teacher signs in to SukuTree, opens SukuTree Kids and types the code once, and their classes open. You do not wait for the invoice to be paid. The invoice follows separately, as a PDF by email, or as an e-invoice if you give an e-invoice address. Payment term 14 days net.
Order
Tell us who the invoice goes to. We email you the licence code for your teachers; the invoice follows separately.
Thank you – your order is in!
We email the licence code to the address you gave. Each teacher types it once in SukuTree Kids, and their classes open.
Questions
Do the children need accounts or email addresses?
No. You add each child by first name. On a class device a child taps their own picture to open their tree.
Which devices work?
Tablets, laptops, Chromebooks, computers and phones with an up-to-date browser. Nothing to install. One device passed around the class works too.
Can a child without family photos take part?
Yes. Every card can hold a drawing, and each child adds whoever they choose, including someone else and pets.
How do parents see the tree?
Each tree has its own private link, which you can send through your school's messaging service or by email. Parents can keep the tree in a free SukuTree account, and it stays theirs after the school year.
What happens when the trial ends?
The trial lasts 30 days from the day you make your first class, for 1 class with up to 10 children. After it, your class stays open to read for 60 days: trees, printing, the class booklet, the slideshow and the links for home keep working, but adding or changing children and cards waits until you order. A whole class needs a licence, with room for 40 children. If no order comes, the children's trees, pictures and links for home are deleted after those 60 days. We email you 14 days before.
How do teachers use the licence?
After the order, the school gets a licence code by email; the invoice follows separately. Each teacher signs in to SukuTree, opens SukuTree Kids and types the code once, and their classes open. A class licence covers the number of classes paid for; a school licence covers every class of the teachers who use its code. A licence runs for a year from the day it starts. It continues every year until you cancel it; we email you a month before each renewal.
How do we pay?
By card through Stripe: you get a receipt with VAT straight away. Or with an invoice: as a PDF by email or as an e-invoice, payment term 14 days. Either way the licence is a yearly subscription that continues until you cancel it.
What happens at the end of the school year?
You choose. In each class you can have the trees deleted on a date you set; the default is your country's usual last school day. If you do not, the trees stay while your licence runs, and for 60 days after it ends.
Which languages?
Finnish, Swedish, English, Estonian, Russian, Bulgarian and French. Each class has its own language.
Can I lend my own device to the class?
Yes. Your own pages are locked on it until you unlock them with your passkey or with a code sent to your email.
